A VERY WARM WELCOME TO DALPARK INDEPENDENT EDUCATIONAL CENTRE WEBSITE
We offer the words of Benjamin Franklin as food for thought for parents wishing for the best for their children in an educational facility….“an investment in knowledge pays the best interest” …..
A sound education for children should be considered a worthwhile investment for any parent.
What Do We Consider a Sound Education ?
At DIEC we believe in the power and potential of the individual – the child or young adult – and maintain a family environment in which they can develop and grow.
Education is broadly defined as …’teaching, training and informing someone’… however, our DIEC teaching pedagogy is more accurately defined by the Latin variation – ‘educare’ – meaning …“to bring up or raise”.
The African proverb ……“it takes a village to raise a child”…….. is perhaps the most accurate terminology describing how we view our school and the way we educate.
So in essence; every learner counts and we take care of them as if they were family.
Our Educational Concepts
Our approach to education has been designed around what we refer to as …’the 6 C’s’… which we identify as: Critical thinking; Collaboration; Communication; Creativity; Citizenship/culture; and Character education/connectivity.
We recognise that the world is moving on from the “Industrial Era” so the skill sets that we teach and develop in our learners are futuristic in character, making use of technology and preparing our learners for the new era.
Empathy is another trait which we instil whilst encouraging the ‘6 C’s’, which is vital to personal performance in the new world.
In a world where technology development and use is accelerating, we ensure that our learners remain sociable and spiritual beings. This has become a challenging balancing act in the greater environment, so is vital in the schooling arena.
Our DIEC institutional pedagogy has already adapted for these huge changes.
We are seeing a future where…… “fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living. It’s a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope” …….Dr Seuss.
We believe that fantasy, imagination, and creativity are all valid and essential problem-solving mechanisms to achieve complex solutions. They are every bit as important as Maths and English.
The ability to stoically consider complex scenarios in future thinking and decision making is probably the most important entrepreneurial skill to ensure success, so our learners should be prepared and taught such skills.
To any parent wishing to encourage a “positive growth” mindset in their child, in an English speaking, Christian based environment, that accepts and ensures that every learner’s inherent talent can be maximised – I welcome you to our future thinking school full of big ideas.
