A WARM WELCOME TO DALPARK INDEPENDENT EDUCATIONAL CENTRE

In the words of Benjamin Franklin “an investment in knowledge pays the best interest” should be food for thought to parents wishing to spend good money for sound education. However, what would be considered sound education……?

We believe in the individual – the child or young adult in a family environment. Education has been defined as teaching, training and informing someone – however, more accurate with our school teaching pedagogy is the Latin variation – educare, meaning to “bring up or raise”. The African proverb “it takes a village to raise a child” is perhaps the most accurate terminology of how we view our school and the way we educate.

Our Education has been designed around the 6 “C’s” which are:

  • Critical thinking. …
  • Collaboration. …
  • Communication. …
  • Creativity. …
  • Citizenship/culture. …
  • Character education/connectivity

All of which we take very seriously as we no longer live in the “Industrial Era” and therefore there is no point in teaching these antiquated skill sets. Today’s child needs to have more empathy as well as the above 6 “C” to perform in this new world. The realisation that the new world is moving so fast in technology that keeping up with this ever-changing landscape as well as ensuring that our children remain sociable and spiritual beings has become the greatest balancing act in any environment, not only in the schooling arena. Our school pedagogy has already adapted for these huge changes.

We are looking forward to the future where “fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living. It’s a way of looking at life though the wrong end of a telescope” – Dr Seuss. Fantasy, imagination and creativity are all problem-solving mechanisms to achieve complex solutions. I believe they are as important as Maths and English.

To any wishing to allow a “positive growth” mindset, in a Christian, English environment that accepts all where each Learner’s natural talent can be realised – I welcome you to our small school full of big ideas.
